No.
But this is the conversation between The Motivator and I tonight:
ME: I think I need to train for a marathon.
JAMES: <shocked look, jaw dropped>
ME: If I train for a marathon, it might help me get faster in my half-marathons.
JAMES: Let me write this down… “Let it be noted that on January 31st, Paula said she wanted to train for a marathon.” This way when you’re saying ‘why the f*** am I doing this‘ in about 8 months, we can review my notes and know it’s because you said you wanted to.
I didn’t say I wanted to run a marathon, just train for one. 😀
lol Paula, you wouldn’t believe but I’ve been training for a month now and that is exactly how he reacted when I said I wanted to be able to run a marathon!

It really is, isn’t it!!

Why would put in all the training and then not run one?
I’m not so sure that more miles = faster. Some people think so, but I’m not sure.

Wow, you’re a brave woman to even have the thought of training for a marathon. And I’m with Judy…not so sure more miles will make you faster.
Have you tried intervals? Run faster than normal (not an all out sprint) for a short period then slow down or even walk to recover? I’ve had a lot of success with that.
Either way…Good Luck!!

Yes, actually, I have and they really do help! They hurt and they suck, but they do indeed help, lol! And thanks for that little reminder… I need to put them on my calendar for Thursday! 😀

ha ha. Well, if you train for it, you might as well run one! But you can cross that bridge (or starting line) when you get there. 🙂 I think it’s a great idea! If you want to get sucked into a mileage trap, that is. 😉 Seriously though, I’m sure James can help you figure out a plan that may work.

Lol…. oh he would indeed!! And he’d giggle the whole entire time, 😀
How are you feeling? Aches, pains, cold?

I am sick, unfortunately, and forewent the run this morning for an extra hour of sleep. I may get in a run later, to see what I’m feeling like. Also, I’m drinking a lot of fluids and taking all the vitamins, so hopefully I can nip this in the bud!

Okay, feel better!! Zinc every 3 hours! Trust me on this!! And take it easy on those runs… you’re in taper!! (Sometimes we just have to be reminded, lol)

I got some zinc! It’s called “Life-Line” and I’m taking it like it says every 2 hours. I think it’s already working!!!

When I am in training for a full marathon, it actually slows me down because you are training more for distance and less for speed (it it’s your first at least usually). And if you train for it, you should definitely DO IT!! ❤

Oooo, a very very good point! Didn’t think about that part of it! Thank you!! 😀 (and yeah, if I train for it, I’ll probably do it, heaven help me!) 😉
