Weekend Rambles

Ramble… to talk or write at length in a confused or inconsequential way. ย It’s what I do best, so I’ll begin.

My running has been slim this week. ย In case you forgot, I hurt my knee running the Lake Sammamish Half Marathon (but I finished anyway, so yay). ย You can read about that here,ย here, and hereย (all 3 “here’s” take you to the same place, but if you want to read about it someplace else, try here). ย So I’ve been resting and healing.

I’m kind of sad that I’m not still streaking, but the races and the bling are way more important than the streaking. ย In all reality, I think I just like saying “streaking;” it sounds so indecorous (haha, I had to look that one up). ย Anyway, I’ve been out on a couple of runs this past week… well, actually,ย one was on the treadmill, one was running laps at the soccer park, and then a good old fashioned trail run happened Friday! ย By the end of my run on Friday, I felt I had worked all the nigglies out, but we shall see what Sunday’s long run brings.

Four weeks from today, I’ll be running the SLC Half-Marathon. ย I really don’t time for the nigglies right now.

New subject… know anyone who is passive aggressive? ย I liken being passive aggressive to being in junior high school… there’s not an ounce of maturity associated with passive aggressive tendencies, regardless if the person is 60 years old. ย I’m having the extreme displeasure of dealing with one of those right now. ย I have no choice but to completely ignore her responses and take what she says at face value, and only face value. ย I get the hidden meaning behind the things she says, but then if I acknowledged any of it, I would be feeding the beast. ย Not gonna do it. Unfortunately this is not a social relationship, so I can’t just put the good old block on her or “unfriend” her.

James and I just had this conversation (please re-read definition of rambling):

JAMES: ย I think I’ll go for a bike ride.

ME: ย How far are you going?

JAMES: ย Probably about 10 miles, maybe 20, but probably 10.

ME: ย (singing) Your ass is gonna hurrrrrrrt…

ME: ย And you’re going to run after that?

JAMES: ย Yes.

ME: ย I think I’ll go take a nap.

Jackie over at A Cooking Pot and Twisted Tales is hosting a weekend brunch link-up! ย Be sure to stop by and join the party. ย You’re bound to meet lots and lots of new and interesting bloggers over there! ย It’s a great way to grow your blog AND to help out other bloggers! ย Great friendships form here! ย Remember… we’re all in this together!

I’ll finish off my ramblings with some pictures I took the other morning on my way to work. ย It was so gorgeous… the sun was shining and there was frost on the ground. ย I just can’t get over the beauty of this place… it’s everywhere you look!

I am glad that you are taking the time to rest and heal. Passive aggressiveness is not a fun flaw… Whenever I am around someone like this I have to practice letting things go and just let it pass me without going through me. It is good practice in not taking things personally, I guess, which isn’t always easy. And yes, bike riding can be a pain in the ass especially when you’re just starting out! I was thinking about digging my bike out of the garage and dusting it off. The weather was definitely a lot better this week! I enjoy your ramblings! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!! Xoxoxo.

Oh, that passive aggressiveness just makes me want to scream! I can’t tolerate it whatsoever! You’re good to let it bounce right off you… I need to do the same, but sometimes I just want to call her out on it. But then that never works either, does it!
You definitely should get your bike out! Can you believe our weather this past week, holy cow!! It’s been gorgeous! ๐Ÿ˜€ Good to chat with you Alana! I feel like I’ve been so out of touch this past week! You enjoy the rest of your weekend too! Give that Ruby girl a hug and a big wet kiss for me!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Ha! I am that passive aggressive girl… at least that is what the passive aggressive guy at work says about me behind my back!! LOL. I try to be nice to everyone, always. I try not to say bad things behind anyones back unless in code (hence revenge wogger) ๐Ÿ˜‰ but this guy irks everyone. Even the other guys…. bleh. I am nice when I have to but not a fan……. guess that makes me passive aggressive in his eyes! I don’t think anyone else at work labels me that way….so I have that going for me!! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜€ I enjoyed this ramblings immensely!

Dearest, you are far from passive aggressive, believe me. That guy you’re referring to is just an out-and-out asshole. You are too nice and too positive to be passive aggressive! ๐Ÿ˜€

Glad your knee’s feeling better ๐Ÿ™‚ Passive aggressive people- ARG! So frustrating, but the best solution really is to try not to take it personally. The second you do they just get even worse. Beautiful pics BTW ๐Ÿ˜‰ Gotta laugh- you’re talking frost and it’s about 80 here ๐Ÿ˜€ Getting the garden planted and enjoying Spring in AZ ๐Ÿ˜‰

Paula, I totally enjoyed your ramble. I like your attitude towards the passive aggression, *no need to feed the monster, let her starve to death ๐Ÿ˜‰ It’s good that you are getting much needed rest so that you don’t wear the legs out before your next half marathon.

Love all the photos they are beautiful. I was married to that passive aggressive guy and the word is WAS! It was not fun. I am now trying to remind myself to “RELAX” and enjoy.

A whim away…I just LOLed so hard.

Good for you for not buying into the passive aggressive schtick. It’s the worst rabbit hole to get sucked into. Way to take the high road!

Your description of middle school like passive aggressiveness is perfect. And that caption absolutely cracked me up. “Your passive aggressive comment was duly noted and fully expected…” Maybe you should have cards printed up to pass out as needed! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I would much rather deal with someone who is blunt than a passive aggressive person. I don’t even waste time trying to figure out what it is they really mean. It is indeed childish to always be dropping “hints”.
