An Evening Bike Ride

Being at the beginning of a training cycle, I thought maybe this time I would actually do some kind of cross training to see what benefits I could possibly reap.  Rumor has it cycling is good for the quads… ;D … so I suggested to James last night we go for a bike ride for a little XT. I’m just thankful he decided to leave the tri bike at home and take something I could keep up with.

“Beast”; James’s tri bike… mine is not that fast.

This was my first ride of the summer.  We only went 10 miles (16 km), but my shoulders and arms are like jello and I won’t even mention how my sit bones feel.  My quads hurt the least. Hey, it’s a start.

I have a goal of riding to a cool old barn up at the end of the trail, an overall 50-mile ride (80 km).  Who knows… maybe I’ll actually make it this year before the rain begins again.

It definitely gets easier/feels more comfortable, the more you do… and the advantage of cycling is that you can stop for coffee and cake and then get right back to it, which I certainly couldn’t do when running!

Yes! About 20 miles up the trail is a little coffee shop that’s privy to people on the trail! As soon as my bum can handle it, hehe, that’s what we’re going to do, go have a pastry! Imagine… cake while exercising! What a brilliant concept!! 😀 Thanks Tamsyn!!

I’m hoping that the sore bum will go away once I get used to it. Unfortunately every season they have to be broken in again… unless I set up the trainer with the bike downstairs, then I can have a sore bum all year round, hahahaha!

Love it. Health and fitness can come in easy steps. Not just going crazy and paying tons of money to join gyms and get fancy gear. I love your emphasis on how easy it can be to take simple steps.

I think you’d find my new blog has very similar posts. I encourage you to check it out! Like. Subscribe. Whatever. We are all in the fitness blogging game for the same thing. To spread healthy lifestyle as far and wide as we can. I am trying to build my network one comment at a time!

Hahaha, I don’t even want to think about getting on the bike again for a couple of days, 😀 , ouchie!

Yeah, he does have quite a bike there, not sure one I’d ever want to attempt to get on though. I’m more the slow and steady, keep-the-skin-on-my-face type! 😀

I think the cross training is great! Also you can go further and explore more on a bike. I should try it myself😊 Good for you, you must be so fit now compared to last year!

Hahahaha, I’m sure I’d have to break into a jog if you and I ever went for a walk together because I have yet to learn how to walk faster than a snail’s pace and you’d leave me in the dust! 😀
