Ain’t Nothin’ Gonna Break My Stride

It’s Tuesday already and time for another Motivational Music Monday pick that is fashionably late.  And speaking of late… James has yet to post his, so this is a preemptive post (ha! beat you to it! :D).  You can’t blame him though, busy-ness (because if you spell it according to all grammar rules, the word turns into business), busy-ness which has taken over.  This past weekend we emptied my mother’s apartment.  Surreal.  Emotional.  Hard.

Anyway… moving on…

I saw this at work yesterday:

While we do have raccoons rehabbing at the center, this family actually lives underneath the clinic.  It’s a mama with her 2 spring babies.  Mama has lived under the clinic for a few years (smart raccoon), and the babies will stay with her until next spring, then they’ll be off to make their own families.  Yes, they’re big, happy, and fat, and are cleaning up the cat food as we have a few resident kitties.  It’s unusual for them to be out in the open like this, so I took advantage and grabbed my phone.

I also saw this out on my run…

It’s a trail!  Leading into the dark spooky forest!!  It was actually dusk when I took this picture so no way was I going to go off exploring to see where the trail led, but definitely something I’ll look into in the future.  As soon as I’m sure there have been no bobcat or bear sightings.

Onto some music…

The other day I was perusing another site, A Joyful Process, when I came across a playlist from the early ’80s.  And this song.  How could I have possibly forgotten about this song?!  It always used to be one of my favorites back in the day… upbeat, happy, fun!  How can you not smile when listening to this!  I like these lyrics:

Ain’t nothin’ gonna break my stride
Nobody’s gonna slow me down
Oh-no, oh-no, I got to keep on moving
Ain’t nothin’ gonna break my stride
I’m running and I won’t touch ground
Oh-no, I got to keep on movin’

Can you relate? (Trivia question… what song is that a lyric to?  Only die-hard Prince fans will know, hehe)

Enjoy this “Solid Gold” performance!  (Thanks T!!)

It’s Taco Tuesday!!  What’s on the menu tonight at your house?!  (Totally random, I know, but that’s how I roll, baby)

Taco Tuesday with Chicken! That always works! And if you can find the corn tortillas with only 3 ingredients, then super healthy, hehe! And thanks!! I always enjoy knowing that I’m not the only one who loves certain silly songs! 😀

Did you read the label? It comes with an addiction warning. You could get used to it and suffer withdrawals and bad mood swings if you don’t get it frequently. The ground looks so lovely your feet will love you forever. Oh I better shut up and go for a run now.

First…thanks for the shout out! Not sure how you stumbled on that high school senior year playlist, but I’m glad you did! “Break My Stride” was one of those songs I instantly remembered when I was putting the list together.

Second, I DO know what song that lyric is from…but I won’t give it away in this comment…unless you ask (or I’m allowed)! 🙂

Finally, I hope you have had (or are having) a great day! I like the cliffhanger ending as to where that trail leads into the woods…

Thanks T!! I don’t have a clue how I stumbled upon it either, but I’m glad I did! I went back today to try and link to it, but then I couldn’t find it again! Funny that!

Yes! If you know that line (and I know you do, hehe), feel free to shout it out!

And thank you! I’ve had a great day, and I hope you have too! I’m going to grab my Go Pro when I work up the courage to go exploring to see where that trail takes me! I’ll try to add a little element of scary and suspense… kind of like the Blair Witch Project, haha!

Haha! That line, is from Prince’s “Let’s Pretend We’re Married.” Ah, I remember it well…and if he hadn’t removed all his music from Spotify, I believe it was on that list too!

Lol, I knew you would know!! And when I read that line, I totally hear his voice, don’t you?! It’s a song I run to and it gives me a great pace because of the constant beat, love it! And then, of course singing to it while I’m running… I’ll bet people think I’m looney! 😀

Hahaha! If they know Prince, they would understand! It does have a great beat though, which makes it great for exercise…now I just have to find it and move something! LOL

Good Lord, Paula! Solid Gold! When I lived in Glendale, we actually had raccoons in the common area of the apartment complex. My lab used to “tree” them. They would hiss at her. Fun! That trail would definitely be something I would check out. In the daytime. Perhaps with a pet. Or my husband. After all, it is Halloween, you just never know. 😉

Ohhhh, hahahaha! I’m from Tucson, so I immediately went to the Arizona Glendale!

Anyway, yes… they’re cool little critters, so funny to watch eat with their little hands!

And that trail… so spooky at the beginning! Maybe I’ll play a little trick and put Halloween eyes in the trees just to freak out passersby, lol! I’m so evil, 😀

Ain’t nothing gonna break your stride. It sounds like you have a difficult weekend behind you, but now, it’s behind you and characteristically, you’re looking forward. What a cool raccoon troop! Thanks for sharing this song. 🙂 and unfortunately, I’m not die-hard enough of a Prince fan to know what the heck you’re talking about.
Hope you continue having a good week!

Hahahaha, it’s okay about the Prince song, it wasn’t particularly mainstream… I have it on my playlist and I often run to it because it has a solid constant beat! And thanks Dorothea!! Yes, the worst is behind us so we can now move forward! Hope you’re having a great week too! 😀

        Ha ha! Yes!
That’s awesome. I will look up Simply Three when I’m at home.
I actually went to Munich. Obviously didn’t go to run the marathon, but I had a good time at a seminar there and in the city. Heading back to Berlin now…ready for some normalcy.

I can imagine how difficult it must have been going through your mom’s stuff. *hugs*
You are such a tough and brave woman. I would be afraid those raccoons were infected with rabies. But this is what you do for a living and obviously love doing it.

Thank you Tasha. I appreciate the kind words. And actually, raccoons aren’t a rabies vector species here in Washington… only bats. It’s the raccoon roundworm I’d be more worried about, :D. That stuff is nasty!! :O. (Just don’t go barefoot, haha)
