Yeah, yeah, yeah… it’s late over here on the West Coast, and I’m sure most of you are already onto November 1st, but we’re still eating candy here, so I’m writing a Halloween post. It’s my blog… I get to do what I want. 🙂
I went trail exploring this evening. In the dark. It was interesting, to say the least. Okay, the video is a little boring because it’s so dark… I’ll try better next time… but I found a great song to go with it.
And here’s a real thing… people have actually researched what the best wine is to go with your favorite Halloween candy. Seriously. Here’s a partial list:
- If you like Hershey’s Kisses, pair it with a Zinfandel.
- If you like Whoppers, a nice Cabernet Sauvignon will wash those down nicely.
- Reeses Peanut Butter Cups go well with a Sherry.
- Sweet Tarts apparently pair well with Riesling.
- If you like Skittles, drink a Moscato.
- And Kit Kats go perfectly with a Merlot.
Of course, if all else fails… water goes with everything!!
Hope everyone had a wonderfully spooky and fun Halloween!
Awesone!!! Love it, you guys did great!!

Personally, I feel that chocolate can go with wine, whiskey and yes, water! I am glad to see that you took reinforcements with you when you walked down that spooky path. Glad to see you and your family had fun!

Lol, the boys were supposed to be like Michael Myers. But yeah, we had fun! 😀

It sounded like it! Is the trail as creepy as you thought?

That wasn’t actually THE trail… it’s been raining too hard for me to get to that one just yet. This was a fun little patch of forest we discovered and decided to explore, but this one was extremely spooky and dark. It was dusk, but it may as well have been midnight, lol!

Okay. I don’t know why I thought it was the other path. Hey, equally spooky and served a purpose. 🙂

Oh, I totally could’ve played it like it was the other path, but I still want to go explore that one, :D. And oh yes, super spooky, lol!

Haha, thanks Ben! But again, I didn’t wear my trail shoes, so I was slip-sliding everywhere! No, be glad you don’t have the candy! That begins the madness of holiday weight gain, 😀

Looks like fun! Best wines for candy? Seriously! Someone probably got paid for coming up with that idea!!

I know right! And personally, I don’t want chocolate with my wine or vice versa, even though I’ve never tried it. It sounds too much like orange juice and chocolate cake, 😀

Happy Halloween Paula! I know, my greeting is a little tardy. I really enjoyed reading your post :). A late-night trail walk does sound pretty spooky especially on Halloween. I enjoyed your candy and wine pairings. I will keep that in mind! And loved the costumes!!! Xoxoxo.

I admit that I only watched a portion of the video, but I thought it was cool!

Lol, that’s nice that you watched some of it! I was going for Blair Witch, and the boys were with me and did a bit of a boo at the end. One day I’ll be a great cinematographer…. hahahaha… not!! 🙂

Aww man! I am so behind in my reading! I love this Paula! First of all, the idea of using the Teddy Bear Picnic song was a masterstroke and then pairing wines with Halloween candy?
Girl, you got me in 7th Heaven! LOL!!!!
Loved it!

Does this mean I have to have a bunch of drinks on the go at the same time since I have a bucket of left over candy? I’m kidding…or am I? 😉

Love the video hahaha! The good news on the candy list front is that the delicious stuff – the alcohol – is vegan 😂

Yayyy for alcohol being vegan!! 😀 I’m glad you got a kick out of the video… there was a lot more activity in the background but you couldn’t see it because it was so dark, darn it. Live and learn!

I thought I saw some lights in the background! Hopefully more trail videos to come. Mine are super horrible, but it’s the memory that counts!

Really cute video. I love the song…. the only thing is, the YouTube freeze frame before you play the movie kind of gives it away! And AJ and his friends seems like a great group. 🙂
Thanks for the drink pairing tips! I don’t eat candy anymore… but I’ll take those drinks. 🙂

I noticed that too, actually, with the freeze frame! Seeeeee, all things I have to learn if I’m going to be a famous you tuber, hahahaha!! 😀
