Yes! I’m actually going to talk about my running. But first… I have other things I want to share…
Water Drinking Apps: As the weather has been so cold, I haven’t been as dedicated to my water bottle as I should. Sooo, enter a cute little app, Plant Nanny, where you log the cups of water you drink by watering plants. Ever play “Plants vs Zombies?” That’s exactly what these little plants look like. They grow when you water them (or, in reality, log your water intake). A great idea. However, when one is a gamer, which I am, it now becomes a game rather than a utility app. A gamer will no longer keep track of water intake… the goal becomes all about keeping the plants alive and making them grow, and how many can I grow to make my plant nursery full. As well, the alert that it’s time to drink is quite subtle. If I look at my phone and there’s a little plant dancing at the top, I know it’s time to have a glass of water, or really, water my plant. To keep it alive. Because it’s so freaking cute. I’ll be looking for a new water app.
March Madness: Yes, I played the NCAA brackets. Yes, I am in first place by about 40 points. 😀 I chose my original home team to win, the University of Arizona Wildcats from good old Tucson. They. Could. Go. All. The. Way!!
St. Patrick’s Day: I think my plant is tired of water and would really like a Guinness…
New Trail and Running: I mentioned that James and I were going to a new trail last weekend, the Sammamish River Trail. We did, and had a fabulous time. So much so, we’re going back this coming weekend for our long runs. The weather was perfect, just a bit rainy, but a pineapple express was passing through, so it was warm and rainy. Like I said, perfect.
I celebrated Pi Day with a special run…
And this past Sunday, we actually had sun. Holy cow, do you see that? Blue skies!! Yowza! I got to feel the sun on my face, the first time in forever, it seems.
I still had to get on the treadmill in the midst of it all, but I’m starting to see a light at the end of the indoor tunnel. Looking forward to spring training!
So tell me:
- Do you use a water app to make sure you’re drinking enough?
- Did you move for 3.14 miles/yards/feet on Pi Day?
- Who did you pick to win the NCAA Championship?
I picked North Carolina to win the championship, but they aren’t exactly keeping my confidence. That game against Arkansas almost cost me! I do have Arizona in the final four in the championship game against the Tar Heels.

Hmmm, I kinda hope you’re wrong as I have Butler winning next week. But then I have Butler losing to Kentucky in the E8. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Are you doing well in your bracket? I’ve missed 6, but none of my big ones are gone yet.

It’s looking ok. I’ve missed a few more than 6, though! Villanova and Duke have blown up my East region, but the other three are looking pretty good. Louisville hurt me a bit in the Midwest, (had them in the E8 to face UNC, but everything else is good.
Too bad I didn’t know you were filing out a bracket…I set up a bracket challenge for WP Bloggers. You could be winning right now!

I actually saw your post about it, but I wasn’t going to do a bracket this year. Then, at the last minute, I couldn’t resist. It makes it all that more fun, lol!
I didn’t expect Duke to lose so early, but I had a feeling they were going to choke and had them going out in the next round, thankfully. This weekend is when it starts getting interesting… 😀

Yes it is! This is the week where I ended up winning last year’s challenge. Maybe I go 2 for 2! 🙂

Hmmm, if you win, could I still remain in 1st on my end? I’ll have to ponder that. We’ll have to compare notes after the Sweet 16, 😀

Oh yeah. We can do that!

great post and recap of our rainy and sunny runs the past couple weeks…but your plant’s not getting my beer no matter how cute he is 🙂 yes, i played the brackets but we won’t mention that ahem, I have Kansas to win it all but AZ in the final…and i think i ran 3xpi on pi day 🙂 hugs!!

Lol, 3xpi!! I don’t know if that counts as you’re getting into algebraic equations and exponents, which therefore eliminates the geometrical component to the equation. 😀
Yes please, really, let’s talk about your bracket! And if you don’t give baby plant a drink of Guinness, he’ll start singing, “Feed me Seymour!” Hahahaha! Sleep on that one! Hugsies!

I haven’t had enough coffee this morning to come up with a smart response…yet!!

Pi day? Is it a real thing? It looks like you have had some lovely runs😊 I don’t drink water. I like tea and quite a bit of decaf cofeee, it all has water in it and my body can find it quite well! I have wondered if I should change, but having ditched the sugar in coffee and switched to much more decaf, I’m making progress!

Progress is always good! My mother hated water and drank nothing but coffee, triple strength, and she did just fine, so if your body finds it, I think it’s all good! Water has always been my first choice of beverage, probably from those Arizona summers, lol.
Haha, yeah, Pi Day is a thing over here. March 14th, and it’s really only national as we write our date different from the rest of the world, 3/14. It’s all good fun, but I love it when the stores sell their pies for only 3.14. Score! 😀

Ok I get it now about pi day! Glad to hear that your mothe survived on coffee alone! You posted pictures of her once and she looked young and pretty, so it must be OK!!😁😁

Lol, sorry… sometimes I forget people can’t read my mind. It’s a warm weather system that blows in from Hawaii. A bunch of misty rain… feels like a summer drizzle. Love them.

That is a beautiful area. I would take running through it in a heartbeat. We loved it driving through it a few summers back when we were staying at my sister-in-law’s in Seattle. Happy Sammamish running 🙂

Thank you!! We love it here! My husband is from the UK, and I’m from Arizona, but this is our most favorite area in the world… ugly winters and all! Yes, you’d really enjoy our trail system! 😀

Ah lovely. Nothing like appreciating your immediate environment, winters included. Have wonderful runs in your part of the world then 🙂

Don’t do March Madness (neither does my husband). I’m sure you’re shocked. 🙂 I run whatever is on my schedule, approximately when it’s on the schedule (sometimes I have to shuffle stuff around).
Warm? Well, I’m finally gonna get me some . . . for a little while!

Lol, the warm didn’t last long here! We’re back to low 40s and rain, but it’s all good. You’re going to be pleased to thaw out for a few days. You’re going to have fun and a fabulous race!! 😀

You know, it didn’t even occur to me to run 3.14 on Pi Day but that would have been fun! The bird looks like a bald eagle. Is that what it is?
LikeLiked by 2 people
Excellent, yes! I couldn’t zoom in on him that much so I wasn’t sure if you’d be able to tell! I’ll be keeping an eye on that nest over the next couple of months to see if we have babies. Just wish I could peer over the edge, lol.

Same here… I also didn’t think to run (or swim/bike) something like 3.14… but it’s a cute idea.
Also, I guessed a bald eagle too!! So Cool!

Lol, that pi thing is just something to do for fun and a little mini-goal, hehe! Yay! Good job on the bald eagle too! From the picture, it looks like a little song bird, it seems.

Such a cute water drinking app. I actually have no problems getting my water drunk. Therefore, keeping track of how much I drink is a hassle. But maybe I could use it to keep track of something else! It’s really a cute idea.
Also, now I know another reason why I like you. 🙂 Your gamer nature…
Also, I like to see what you’re running! That trail looks beautiful!

Yes! I’m a gamer! So I’m kinda kewl, hehe! Yeah, kind of silly to track the water… I don’t usually have problems with it either, but I know recently I haven’t been drinking enough as by the end of the day I’m chugging 32 ounces at a time (bad and wrong). But I can’t delete that little plant app now… my plants would die! And then I’d be sad! 😦
LikeLiked by 1 person
No! You can’t let them die!! And 32 at once is a bit insane, but once your body gets used to it, it’s not terrible. Just don’t overhydrate. Plants don like that either 😉

Lol, I actually have killed live plants with over watering, 😀 that’s why I stick to the VR thing, 😀

Oh I think that app is ingenious and the trail looks very scenic though I would rather not have the rain–but it’s SEATTLE so…there’s that.
Ah…but mother nature did finally bless you with a partly cloudy sky! YAAASSSS.
The pic looks like a bald eagle; my Dad just sent us a pic that he took of one in Alabama.

You’re right Gwin!! It’s a bald eagle! I wasn’t sure how well it could be seen… and as there is a nest in the next tree, I’m thinking I’ll be seeing babies soon!! Oooo, I’m excited! 😀
When you come here to visit your BFF, you will love the trails we have! AND, it will be sunny by then, so win-win!! 😀

YAAASSS! That’s exactly how the set up was in AL. The eagle on one tree and a nest nearby in the next tree.

I didn’t get a special run in on Pi day but I’m continuing with my three runs a week. I will run my 2nd Spartan Race next month with some of my friends. We’re looking forward to it

Oh, that’s exciting Marie! I’ll look forward to hearing about it! I don’t hear of many Spartan Races, so I find them fascinating (and fun!). 🙂

My fitness app tracks my water intake but I never have a problem with it because I love water. I’m not a runner like you anymore but I do go for walks in the woods with my dog. As for March madness, our house is more inclined toward the WBC which ended today. Good luck with your running, Paula. Will you be entering more races this year? I know you are waiting on the Marine run.

I’m not familiar with WBC. Is that boxing? Thank you Susan for the well wishes. So far I’m racing in the Seattle 12K and Reno in April, a Craft Classic in September (here), San Antonio RNR in December, and we’ll see if I get drawn for Marine Corps, which scares the hell out me, but if I’m going to do it, this is the year. 😀
