Today is mine and 50 in 50 Marathon Quest’s 17th wedding anniversary, so in honor of this special day, I found some great words of advice for anyone who may be interested in having a loving, long-lasting relationship:

To keep your marriage brimming

With love in the loving cup,

Whenever you’re wrong — admit it, 

Whenever you’re right — shut up.

    So totally us…what a special day, crazy that it was that long ago already…we’ve shared some wonderful times and amazing adventures, look forward to the next 17 and then some!! I’ll go back to being quiet now 🙂 love you!!!!

    Congratulations! Terry and I have been together 17 years as well. (Our “anniversary” is next week, the 26th.) Isn’t it great having a “start date” in the year 2000? It makes it so easy to quickly figure out how many years it has been, without any awkward pauses while you try to do the mental math… 😉

      Hahahaha, so true! My brother got married on 1/20/00… now how’s that for easy, lol! Congratulations to you and Terry as well! May you not be on a stoopid diet and may you both have a wonderful celebration!! 😁

    Congrats and LOVE the quote. We’re going on 42 years – it seems like yesterday when I was taking the love leap, then a size 6, now not a size 6, but still loved, and still love. I told my children the best thing they can do when looking for a partner is be best friends first, then fall in love. The friendship stays forever, even if bad times happen when love slips away.

    Happy Anniversary! I agree with Mawil1: good advice for life as well as marriage. 🙂 my parents celebrated their 29th yesterday. Watching them has set the bar high for my own expectations in marriage, but also helped me learn a lot about what can keep it strong.

      Thanks Dorothea! And congratulations to your parents! When you get married, you have to be able to literally envision the future and growing old with that person no matter what. If you can do that comfortably, then they may be “the one.” If not, then you might want to say “next!” 😂 Regardless, you have great role models. It’s okay to set the bar high. 😊
