Hmmmm…. I wonder whatever happened to that weird chick from NADB?
Well… THIS!

Need I say more?! Meet Corduroy (Cordy) and Buttons. Yes, they’re litter mates – true-blue brothers bound by blood. They came from Texas and were rescued from a kill shelter after mom and siblings were dropped off. All of them found homes in either Colorado or the Pacific Northwest, so everyone had a happy outcome. And now those adorable, time-consuming pups are 3-1/2 years old.

Let’s see… what else…
The child (AJ) just turned 17. He’s in 11th grade and finally got to attend high school for the first time ever this fall. He let his hair grow nearly as long as mine during the pandemic, but then we had a chat. So we compromised.
Other notes of (possible) interest:
- I got a new job working in the finance department of a health insurance company.
- While I resigned from working at the wildlife rescue and rehab hospital, I am now a member of the Board of Directors as Treasurer.
- I have returned to school to obtain my CPA.
- I haven’t run a race since Marine Corps Marathon 2018, which I was a DNF as I got sick on the trip and, quite honestly, wasn’t trained properly… I was pulled after 10 miles.
- Thanks to the pandemic, James now has a permanent remote position and works at home. More time to spend with the pups, ha!
- We lost Meeps in September to liver failure. He was 10.
Holy crap… short and sweet and to the point, I guess. Lots of other things have happened, but I think that’ll suffice for now.
I am thankful to have been able to keep in touch with a lot of you on Instagram while I took this long break and am looking forward to catching up with you here. Also I’m thankful for the friends I made and kept through Strava and SquadRunner. It’s been a blast.
But for now, Cordial’s and I bid you adieu. Ja ne! (Anyone? Anyone?)
(Perhaps I should rename this blog to”How Paula Got Her Groove Back.” 😉 )
Well hello! I got an email alert for your post. I haven’t been blogging for ages and funnily enough I was thinking about the ‘old crowd’ that I used to chat with! I haven’t run since we moved into our new house 3 years ago, and I d been tailing off before that. I tried a little jog a few weeks ago but had legs like a baby lamb…
Stuff has happened in my world too, I left my job to do a degree in creative writing and my OH has retired. My son is just a bit older that AJ and interestingly has also declined going back to his super smart short hair…
Lovely to hear from you! Love to you and the family and the doggies!

Ohmigosh hi!! Wow, a creative writing degree, that is awesome!! And yes, those boys… what’re we going to to do with them, haha! Actually, I don’t mind the long hair, but I do prefer AJs to be shoulder length as opposed to being past his shoulder blades. But then again, it’s his hair so I really should stay out of it, 😆. I am so glad you stopped by and said hello and are doing well!! Do take care!!

OK – got it… Glad to read that all is well with your new ‘extended’ family. 😊 Looking forward to more posts. (But just in case you missed it, and have not had time to catch up with some of my latest posts… Jude and I are now back in the UK – living near Harlech, North Wales. See new banner picture on my blog for our view). Please pass on my very best wishes to James.

No! I hadn’t seen that you moved back to the UK yet! I do have a lot to catch up on with you and others! And if you’ve sent an email, I’m sorry… it may have gotten lost in the NADB traffic. I’ll send you an email later from my personal account so we can stay in touch. James started hiking on the weekends, and I can’t really go because I always have homework to do, but he’s really enjoying it… although the hiking season has come to an end for him now that it’s almost winter. Rain, rain, and more rain, then snow. 🤣 Good to see you Mike, I’ll catch up on your blog happenings and send an email later. Take care!!

You have crossed my mind more than once Paula! Nice to see you back. So much has changed in your life! Including AJ. 🙂
As in mine (we are down to one dog, no cats).
My last race was 2019. COVID. Same reason we haven’t been out to see my MIL either in about that long. Obviously not everyone feels that way, but it’s a personal decision.

Awe, sorry for the loss of your fur babies, 😔 . But I was happy to see that you still have Bandit. I won’t travel right now either, so I totally understand. However, I’m happy to know that you still have a reason to travel out this way! 🤗

Well, we have traveled — just this year! Short trips & stay in an AirBnB although we did have one night at a hotel our last trip (which was staying with friends for the most part).
It’s the thought of flying, despite the fact that I have many friends & family who have successfully flown with no ill effects.
The furbabies who passed both had good, long lives.

Yay! You’re back, Paula! So happy to see that! I’m not sure if you’ve heard from James or even if he knows but I now only have one state left- New Mexico!!!! That’s next month, too. If you can’t tell, I’m super excited, both about seeing your post and about almost reaching the end of my goal!

Ohmigosh Donna, I didn’t know! That is so cool!! And I’m super excited for you!! I really wish there was a way for us to go and cheer you across the finish line and then celebrate… you need your teammates around you at the end! ❤ So did you ever meet Nick in Iowa?

I wish you could be there at the finish line too. How cool would that be?! I did meet Nick in Iowa. He wasn’t doing so well at the finish and made a quick bee line from the finish line right after. I thought we’d hang out a bit and have a post-race beer together but that didn’t happen. I ended up chatting with a friendly woman who had made the drive by herself for the race instead. It was all good in the end.

Oh, bummer about Nick. Oh well. At least you got to meet him which is cool. But I shall await your race report for you to tell me more! 😁 Good luck in NM… end it strong, we’ll be cheering for you virtually!! 💪
